about

The title pays homage to friend and collaborator Reinier Baas, who appeared on Ben Bryden’s last album release in 2016 ‘Glasgow Dreamer - The Music of Ivor Cutler’. Reinier’s indomitable style of ‘Mostly Improvised Instrumental Indie Music’ was immortalised on his 2011 release ‘The More Socially Relevant Jazz Music Ensemble’.

The result here is a smouldering exchange between tenor saxophonist Bryden and guitarist Phil Robson from a strong melodic launching pad blending a jazz aesthetic with Rock’n’Roll references. Featuring the ceaseless forward motion of Desmond White on bass and Rajiv Jayaweera on drums.

This is the first single from the forthcoming album Figure of Eight, which releases November 8th 2019.
